Day-to-day work

This month I’ve been very busy at work. We’ve just release the 0.16 version of the video game, and finally, I can see most of my work there.  Everything turns around animation cycles, Unity friendly exported files, and Maya. I’ve learned more than a trick or two of how to animate in Maya (Thanks to Digital Tutors and an awesome book I bought Mastering Maya)

Here’s a little something that’s published on YouTube, property of Squad. I was involved in the animation, rendering and compositing of the teaser. The models were all used from the game.

The Voodoo Master

The base model for this character was created by @zujuy. I just modified in some parts the geometry, the overall proportion of the head, arms, and created a new texture. Painted some skin details in the face, arms and legs, and tried to simulate some muscles in the body. This fella is going to be on a 3D/2D game I’m developing with some friends. I wanted to paint/sculpt more details on Zbrush, but he’s going to be too small on the screen to check out that kind of detail.  He’s also still in bind pose, except for the jaw and teeth. Done with Maya, Zbrush and Photoshop.

Game concept design

There’s been great progress on the mobile we are making.  The team is just a coder friend and I.  I don’t want to reveal much of the mechanics and interactions, because it’s not fully defined yet. But I’m posting a concept design of a fully rendered 3D building inside the game.

Walking cameras

Composition update of the short film “Rewind” in production at Muv Experimento. This is a scene where some Polaroid-like camera-ducks walk down the road and spit a photograph.  I created the animation and the rig of those characters in Maya 2012.

After many months creating the character rigs, finally I’m animating.  Here’s an update of a pose for a running walking cycle for our main character.
